About Me
My name is Ben Kaufman.
I’m a trained social worker and community organizer with more than 15 years of experience developing and managing impactful programs, liaising with government and private funders, and supporting the leadership trajectories of professionals working across roles and settings.
Here’s what distinguishes me from other consultants:
I see possibilities where others may not. I listen with deep care, quickly process large amounts of detailed information and associated feelings, then reflect back in ways that aim to provide helpful framing or direction.
I believe that boldness has many different manifestations. This quality is something I seek in individuals and organizations I work with and something I expect of myself. I am excited to learn about what this concept means to you and your team, and to facilitate spaces in which everyone’s boldness is contributing to shared objectives.
I can effectively translate your priorities into discrete activities. This includes factoring in funder intent, financial and personnel constraints, prevailing social narratives, and the full ecosystem of potential support.
I proceed with intentionality. When we work together, we will talk openly about oppressive forces, individual and collective resilience, humanness, accessibility, positionality, and sequencing of efforts. Leaning into discomfort normalizes genuine growth.
I am nothing without my village. I am always willing to activate my vast network of colleagues to complement what I can bring to your organization. I also want to know whose expertise and wisdom from your community I should be accessing and will work with you to ensure those individuals are compensated for what they’re willing and able to give.

Working With Me
The process of developing an organizational identity requires significant investment. This is especially true for nonprofits, associations, and small businesses. Think about the money and personnel (staff, Board, etc.) time you put into creating your vision, mission, strategic plan, and other public documents.
I can help you honor this investment by thoughtfully incorporating core elements into proposals and project implementation plans. With this support, you’ll be able to meet funder/investor expectations while maintaining alignment with your espoused values – all in ways that resonate with your organization’s intended beneficiaries.
